Hyper Light Drifter developer Alex Preston has added a Wii U stretch goal to the Kickstarter campaign for his 2D action RPG. The game is already set to release on PS4 and Vita alongside its PC, Mac, Ouya and Linux counterparts in June 2014. Should the project hit $550,000 – and with 7 days left it’s looking rather likely – the game have Wii U added to the release sku. At press time, 17,816 backers have pledged $452,241 towards the project, literally smashing the original $27,000 goal to dust. Thanks, rumrod.

It’s hard to imagine what must be going through his head right now.

“We’re gonna need a bigger boat” – Or game as it were.

It does look charming as hell. I bought in. Full on Kickstarter relapse.

@1 this makes me ridiculously nervous. I’m working on something that I’m considering putting up on kickstarter once I know its going to be worth finishing. What I’m working on is nothing like HLD, but if it was to garner this kind of support I think I’d be overwhelmed, completely and utterly.

Haha, rather half a million over than half a million under right? :P

I mean technically his only true obligation is fulfilling the tiers and any stretch goals he sets for himself. So if people want to make him rich, I think that’s fair game.
