Final Fantasy 14 world transfer service coming in a few weeks

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will open world transfers within the next few weeks, allowing those who were isolated during the MMO's messy launch to be reunited with their friends.

In a a forum post translated by Siliconera, producer Naoki Yoshida said a world transfer service will launch sometime in the next two weeks.

Although it will be a premium service later on, world transfers will be free for the first five days because many players were unable to join their server of choice when the rebuilt MMO went live due to overcrowding. Additionally, existing servers will be buffed so you've got a better chance of finding a slot in the one you're really after - although the maximum concurrent player total of 8,000 will be maintained.

You'll be able to move up to eight characters in one transfer, but only when transferring from one single destination to another; if you want to spread your alts across different worlds or consolidate them from various locations, you'll need to lodge a transfer for each different origin and destination.

To qualify for a transfer, characters must meet the following requirements:

  • Must not be part of a Free Company.
  • Must be logged out at the moment of transfer.
  • Must not have any items in the market.
  • Players may be limited to how much Gil they can carry over.

Name clash disputes will favour already resident characters, and the Gil restrictions have been implemented to discourage gold farmers.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is available on PC and PlayStation 3, and is coming to PS4. It suffered under the weight of high demand at launch, leaving many players to comp[romise on elss than ideal servers.
