New Destiny artwork puts on a real gun show

Destiny has guns. A lot of guns. And Bungie has just released a whole host of new artwork that shows off an arsenal including a pulse rifle, a sniper rifle, a heavy machine-gun, a rocket launcher and a hand cannon. In the latest Destiny podcast, Bungie goes into detail about how these weapons form an important part of the game’s storytelling.

As part of this storytelling, the weapons each have their own name. The pulse rifle is Red Death, the sniper rifle Closing Time, the heavy machine-gun Thunderlord, the rocket launcher Gjallarhorn, and the hand cannon Duke MK.44. Currently, there are no weapons with a simple name like Bob.

In the podcast Bungie art lead Tom Doyle says “We’re trying to tell a much larger story and a much richer fiction. The weapons are the first thing you see, they’re the things that are some of the most persistent forms of artwork in the game and therefore one of the loudest channels to tell those stories in Destiny.”

Destiny is set to release in 2014 on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One.

    This just sounds like Borderlands…

Really starting to lose interest with the project.

In fact, I’m sure Borderlands 3 will end up coming out shortly after this and probably be better.

I am really hyped for this game, I just hope it has the depth to keep me and others around for a long time. If it’s just run and gun like a mad man it will be a no go for me.

    Ha! :)

I’m just getting a bit sick of the endless teasers, video blogs and stuff like this that get released years before the game actually comes out!

We’ve already had faction flag art…

What next, a discussion panel on the type of mineral deposits that are on the planet in Destiny?!

Just get the game out the door before other games / ideas trump yours! :)

@1 – Agreed but that might not be a bad thing…

Borderlands 2 is an awesome game with a ton of humor and that cell shaded look, this is a more realistic look with a more serious tone. If nothing else. it will fill a need till Borderlands 3 comes out :)

To be honest, I am not sure if gearbox can top Borderlands 2 story wise, it was great.
