MGS 5: The Phantom Pain gets TGS gameplay video blowout

Wednesday, 25th September 2013 02:58 GMT By Brenna Hillier

It’s a Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain bonanza today, as Konami has released five new direct-feed videos showing off the specially-constructed Tokyo Game Show 2013 demo as well as the game’s opening.

Below you’ll find the opening sequence in English (Gematsu has it in Japanese if you like) then two gameplay walkthroughs, which are unfortunately only available in Japanese.

If you want more, here’s 12 minutes of gameplay from the Sony stage demo at TGS 2013, and another 12 released afterwards showing off daytime gameplay.

MGS 5 is expected on PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014.

One of the series I miss most on my PC…

Castlevania was released recently on Steam, hopefuly *any* Metal Gear game follows.

This one is looking really good!

So, it really does seem that Ground Zeroes is a separate release from Phantom Pain.

But then Kojima also talks copious amounts of shit, so who really knows?

Might just be me but Sutherland’s voice does not fit that face, looked very odd to me.

@5 I agree completely. Getting rid of Hater was a gigantic mistake. And I still don’t understand their reasons behind it.

@6, might just need to play the game before it fits. I was originally gutted we lost Ironside as Sam Fisher but the redesign suits the new voice so it was easy to get over once I started playing.

Here they’ve pretty much kept the same Snake looks wise and just changed the voice.

Man, listening to Keifer voicing Big Boss is so alien to me. Especially the part when he climbs the cliff and says “keptyouwaitinhuh”.

No way it’s better than Hayter’s voice.

Anyhow, I think I’ll have to force myself to get comfortable with the voice I think, but I don’t think I should put myself through the trouble in the first place.

if the ps4 controller’s triggers (R2 and L2) are improved why does the r1 is still the prompt button for CQC?

    @12
Because the R1 button has always been the button for CQC since MGS4. What kind of question is that?

Most if not all of the voice acting in that trailer was terrible.

Who the hell did they get to voice Skull Face? A small boy who has been told to impersonate a space marine?

    Good God

KEPTUWAITHAH? Why is he slurring everything? Why does he sound younger than Hayter in Snake Eater? Why is Kojima such a shitbag?
