Warcraft movie may star Colin Farrell, Paula Patton - rumour

Hollywood whispers suggest Legendary is chasing Colin Farrell and Paula Patton to play leading roles in the Warcraft movie adaptation.

The rumour comes via Deadline, which reports Patton is in negotiations over the role, but that Farrell's casting is still chancy.

Farrell has appeared in a wide variety of films including Total Recall and Seven Psychopaths, while Patton is probably best known for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, but was also in Déjà Vu and Mirrors.

The Warcraft film project took a long time to get off the ground because Blizzard is very protective of the property. Sam Raimi was on board, but eventually left to make Oz, later saying he got sick of Blizzard's "mismanagement". Moon director Duncan Jones is now in the director's seat, a dream project of his, and things seem to be accelerating as a result. The movie is in pre-production at Legendary Pictures and may begin filming as early as January ahead of a 2015 release. A teaser was shown at Comic Con.
