A Skylanders SWAP Force trailer, which takes you behind-the-scenes with the development team, is available below. It also delves into the story behind the new adventure and introduces some of the new characters. Skylanders SWAP Force will arrive in North America and Australia on October 16 and in Europe on October 18 for 3DS, PS3, Wii, Wii U, and Xbox 360. A release date for the PS4 and Xbox One versions are to be announced at a later date. Vicarious Visions is handling the PS4 version, Beenox the Wii version, and n-Space the 3DS version.

The only thing they need in this now is online multiplayer, too. Many kids these days are meeting friends online, friends they play stuff like Minecraft with. They’d want to be able to play the Skylanders games with them. I feel some of the best franchises for youngsters out there, like the LEGO games and Skylanders are limited by this very, very ’90s idea that kids get together to play things on the couch.

That’s not a very contemporary view. So as good as Skylanders is, it would benefit so much more by having online multiplayer. That’s the only thing I feel it really lacks.
