Wii Fit U free to North America gamers for a month, starting November 1

Wii Fit U is being given away for free as a one month trial to North America gamers, staring November 1, Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed.

Nintendo Life reports that the trial gives gamers access to Wii Fit U's full suite of 77 activities and GamePad functions.

During a Nintendo Direct broadcast today, Fils-Aime said, "Wii Fit U is all about ‘fun fitness’ for everyone in the family. With this special offer, Nintendo is making it easier than ever for families to get active and stay active, making now the perfect time to upgrade to Wii U. This is another example of the kind of value and variety that only Nintendo can offer."

To proceed beyond the free trial, gamers will have to purchase a Fit Meter accessory at $19.99. The game is then unlocked upon syncing it to the game. It's a device that you carry with you to monitor your daily exercise and report back to the game.

The free month offer ends January 31st, and the full game will launch as a retail disc and eShop download on December 13th in North America.
