Mighty No. 9 headed to PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360, new boss detailed

The Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter campaign has attracted enough pledges to secure console ports of the Mega Man spiritual successor.

PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360 ports were a $2.2 million stretch goal, a target reached with a good two weeks still on the clock.

The next goal is Challenge Mode at $2.4 million. At $3.3 million, it will come to PS4 and Xbox One.

Mighty No. 9 is a new property from Kieji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man, and is designed to answer the requests of Mega Man fans for a new side-scrolling action game.

In a recent update, Comcept introduced the game's third boss, No. 3. A female robot (yes yes, I know, it's not my fault), No. 3 uses electrical attacks, and her stage has lightning rods places throughout which can channel power in various ways.

Director Koji Imaeda requested the character be purple, and designer Kimo Kimo based the character on a combination of a Japanese thunder god and modern appliances, to maker her familiar to western and eastern players.

Mighty No. 9 is expected on PC in addition to recently announced console ports, likely by April 2015.
