Counter-strike: Global Offensive Championship offers $250,000 crowdfunded prize pool

Proceeds from the sales of the Arms Deal Update have helped fund a significant prize pool for a Counter-strike: Global Offensive tournament.

The 2013 DreamHack SteelSeries Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) Championship has a prize pool of $250,000, one of the largest in the game's history.

The prize pool was partially funded by sales of keys to the eSports Weapon Case, a new item added in an August update. Available via random drops, the Case unlocks cosmetic weapon skins, and can be traded and sold by users.

Dreamhack is the world’s largest digital festival, and holds the world record as largest LAN party. It takes place in Jonkoping, Sweden.
