Evo 2014 announced for July, Xbox 360 as main platform

The world's foremost international fighting games championship series is back for another year, organisers have confirmed.

As detailed on Shoryuken, Evo 2014 will take place from July 11 through 13 at the LVH Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 2014 competition will be played on Xbox 360 consoles for preference, but according to a later tweet, games on other platforms may be included.

"The Evolution Championship Series represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world. Evo events bring together the best of the best from around the world in a dazzling exhibition of skill and fun, as players and fans gather to honor the competitive spirit in an open format and determine a champion," an announcement post proclaimed.

Evo 2013 concluded on July 15. This year's competition included Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition, Tekken Tag Tournament, Street Fighter x Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom, The King of Fighters 13, Smash Bros. Melee, and Persona 4 Arena.
