Disney Infinity's "strong" launch sales leave publisher "very pleased"

Disney is just chuffed with how well toys-to-life sandbox Disney Infinity is selling.

"Disney Infinity sales are off to a strong start, selling 294,000 starter pack units in the US during the last two weeks of August. We're very pleased with the launch in both the U.S. and globally, and believe Disney Infinity is well-positioned for the critical holiday sales season," a spokesperson told GamesIndustry.

Disney Infinity was the third best-selling title on the NPD's August charts. It's believed to be one of the most expensive games Disney has ever produced, and is available on 3DS, PS3, Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360, with a PC version coming in October.

The last Skylanders game, Giants, launched at the bottom of the chart in October 2012, but arrived amidst a glut of new releases and was still charting many months later. The new game, Swap Force, is due in October 2013.

Activision has said it's flattered by its new rival.
