Payday 2: 1.58 million copies sold since launch, 80% were digital

Payday 2 developer Overkill Software did announce that the game was already in profit before it launched due to big pre-order volumes, so it’s impressive to see that it’s sold 1.58 million units since it launched.

The figure was announced in a Starbreeze investor note last night, and should come as superb news to Overkill and publisher 505 Games.

Have you tried the game yet? If not, here’s some footage of VG247′s Pat Garratt and Sam Clay cocking up a bank job. Feel free to troll them:

Sweet, maybe they could use some of that money to implement the ability to close doors, or pockets that fit more than 2 zip ties at level 1.
It’s a better game that the first Payday, since it’s not just about murdering cops, you can actually rob a place without a massacre, but the progression system is broken.

Of course 80% of it was digital. If you don’t allow people to buy your game in stores they can only buy it in digital format. The PC Version comes out this month as retail.
