Xbox One’s dashboard leaks online in video

Sunday, 8th September 2013 22:31 GMT By Ewan Miller

A video showing parts of the Xbox One’s dashboard running has surfaced on Youtube courtesy of user Jackson Carter. Catch the video after the jump before it’s taken down.

The video shows the fairly seamless transition between Crytek’s Ryse: Son of Rome running in “fullscreen” mode and then picture in picture within the UI, which very much resembles the Metro UI of Windows 8 recoloured to match the Xbox’s green.

According to Carter, the boot time on both the console and Ryse are quite quick in this beta version of the Xbox One.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

So… Did this idiot steal one? Or is this just plain old covert advertising? They’ve been handing them out to beta testers?

Also that controller looks massive holy shit. Triggers looked nice though.

LOL. Real time demo of RYSE is freezing there when that guy tries to do something on the dashboard. Congratulations on next gen.

Can’t wait to see how it works well after 3 years when all of the games will have better visuals and 30 frames per second. Haha.

Oh yeah. Next Gen my ass. Oh dear.

Flat design with duo-tone icons lacking shadow and texture is a bit like hip-hop in the 90′s.

Everybody loved it, and I am in hell.

They still continue with that windows 8 look.

@ 3 This guy is probably a relative or something of somebody who works for microsoft who has some of the retail units… and i think some game retail managers have a unit already so thats quite possible too

@ 4 All software is in Beta, X1 isnt even in the hands of mainstream consumers so its bound to be glitchy and have bugs in and what not. Nobody should have it. Software wise, it isnt ready yet… over 2 months away after all

    Metro UI sucks balls.

I still have windows 7 and I’m not planning to go to Windows 8.

and this Dashboard looks like a stupid Rip Off from Windows 8 at best.

oh boy that looked ugly, this must be a straight copy of metro. what we have seen of the ps4 dash is so much better than the xbox one, that is for sure.

@12 How is it a rip off of Win 8? Microsoft owns the IP… And thats like saying Win 8 ripped of Windows Phone .

@12 “and this Dashboard looks like a stupid Rip Off from Windows 8 at best.”

@4 Your complaining about a feature that no other console can do where you can multi task and its not like you’re even playing the game while you’re in the dashboard.
    Also its Beta.
I think everything demonstrated looks fantastic.

Not sure if his hands are extremely small but when I held the controller it did not look that big at all.

@ 16 The controller in my opinion is comparable to the 360 controller. The difference in my opinion was the shoulder buttons, for some reason it made it feel slightly bigger but no big issue.

Im looking forward to a september announcement from Harrison at Eurogamer expo. There has been talk that there is a discrete gpu that has been locked out from the dev kits (the developers didnt have coding access to it)
if you a little tech savvy, have a read of this. Its from a non native english speaker but.. interesting to say the least

Ps4 ui is much better looking imo… Shame they went for the failing windows 8 Nokia look, might work on touchscreen, sucks balls on a tv. Bland and uninspiring.

  23. lexph3re

@16 It’s been confirmed ps4 can do that so it’s not really a console exclusive feature.

As for the interface i don’t mind it use windows 8 a lot already doesn’t phase me a bit. Then again I only have a few things stopping me from being vested in this console.
