Cross Plane game pad controller takes to Kickstarter

Cross Plane is a cross-platform controller for Ouya, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with an embedded video screen; like the Wii U Game Pad, Vita Remote Play or Nvidia Shield, it's designed to free you from your TV and monitor by streaming to a handheld device.

Cross Plane boasts a 7" screen with 720p resolution, a d-pad, twin analog sticks and rumble, but no motion, touch, microphone or camera functions.

The peripheral manages to support so many different platforms via swappable control packs; you pop in the cartridge for the system you want to use, and change whenever you like.

The unusual third-party peripheral is being funded via Kickstarter, and is looking for $350,000. Pledges including a Cross Plane unit begin at $349, and creators Advanced Gaming Solutions are targeting a May 2014 release.

One important note is that the Cross Plane won't work on Xbox 360 models without HDMI support.
