Xbox One’s free FIFA 14 for ‘Day One Edition’ consoles only

Monday, 2nd September 2013 14:19 GMT By Dave Cook

Microsoft announce that all European Xbox One pre-orders in Europe would receive a free download of FIFA 14. Acey Bongos has now clarified that the incentive extends to Day One Edition consoles only on Twitter.

Responding to a fan, Acey clarified the promotion:

This tweet corrects an earlier tweet from the official Xbox One feed which is now said to have been made in error:

So there you go folks, free FIFA 14 with your Xbox One, but only if you order the Day One Edition.

What do you make of this? Let us know below.

@2 Doesn’t matter mate, a lot of people will have read that tweet taking it as gospel. It’s a poor gaffe at any rate :(

And they said it was for all consoles at the gamescom behind closed doors press thing as far as I can remember. Don’t quote me on that though.

confused ….. You mean that if somebody has an standard edition already pre-ordered, that means he/ she wont receive a copy of fifa 14 ?

I thought all pre-orders were Day One editions? I don’t remember of getting the option of a Day One and a non-Day One pre-order?

As far as I get it,Apparently yes, only for people who pre-ordered the Day one edition stock.

Microsoft should consider hiring new PR team !

    @4 and 5

Standard edition is the non-Day 1 version. SO if you have that, no FIFA.

@7 “Microsoft should consider hiring new PR team !” – they should have done that about 9 months ago. Would have saved themselves a hell of a lot of hassle ^_^

Oh well, my order says Day One w/ FIFA 14. So I guess I’m ok.

Not really much of a promotion then and simply a bonus to the “loyal” purchasers. Bit crap for everyone else that thought they were getting FIFA.

MS are living up to being lying corporate suits at the moment. If you STILL defend them after ALL the shit, you sir are a fanboy of the worst kind. Those that have been a gamer long enough to know the 360 was the 2ND MS console, get prepared for the Xbone ship to sink if sales tank.
And they WILL tank as the expectations are internally astronomicaly high. People always tout “Have you seen Titanfall?” Contrary to mainstream media, the crown jewl of Xbone is worth 20K preorders in the US. And KZ:SF secures 240K.
Honestly, those buying an Xbone, goodluck, the new CEO is going to abandon it like the ORIGINAL Xbox 1.

Did you actually think you could buy an Xbox One three years from now and still get Fifa 14 included? Everyone who pre-orders will get an Xbox One Day One edition, unless they wait until a week before launch when they’re probably sold out.

If you want a console at launch, then you pre-order as soon as you can. If not, then you’re probably not very interested in the first place.

You can still get Day One editions. This is NOT A BIG DEAL.

Crawl back to your Sony cave, and put on your tinfoil hat.

Not exactly a lie, though, is it? It’s not like they’ve kept this secret until after the launch.

You know this well in advance to cancel your pre-order if a copy of FIFA meant that much to you.

    It’s a cock-up, a disappointing one but that’s it.

I hate to be that guy but here’s Corporate VP Phil Harrison announcing that “All pre-orders for Xbox One this holiday will receive Fifa 14 at no additional cost”

And all pre-orders are Day One editions, right? I don’t know of ANYONE who’s pre-ordered the standard edition. Why would they?

  18. viralshag

@17, That’s what I don’t get… I simply thought all pre-orders at this stage were Day One editions. Why would you NOT pick that option unless they are in limited stock or sold out already?

EDIT: Checked and there are limited stock at GAME in the UK but you can still order that version.

Also, so many people were giving it the whole “oh it’s a dudebro game anyway, no good to me!” So it’s not that big a deal, surely?

Well, day One Edition is already sold out Germany. Every pre order from now on is most likely a normal edition.

Your still throwing assumptive remarks without any evidence.

    Edit: @23
Ok but i was referring to the Sony remark, but good to know ;)

@14 @22 Seems Amazon won’t let you pre-order Day One consoles but will let you pre-order standard editions

Whereas Shopto will let you pre-order Day One editions but not standard. Weird.

  24. Tech-N9ne, Day One edition still available. Have 2 Pre-Ordered already from here.

Official statement from Official Microsoft site:

They can change things in USA maybe, but this offer made to Europe customers. Those things what can work in USA not working here. When you offered something to customers you will need to honor that offer. You cannot change it later.
