Xbox One: Microsoft needs to “cough up” the release date, says EA’s Moore

Monday, 2nd September 2013 10:56 GMT By Dave Cook

EA’s COO Peter Moore has stated that Microsoft needs to “cough up” the Xbox One’s release date.

Speaking with, Moore discussed the fact that competing formats have never released so close before, given that PS4 will drop in North America on November 15, and that Xbox One is also pegged for a November launch.

“It has never happened this way,” he said. “There’s always been a period of time, a sorbet between consoles, that has cleansed the palate and allowed us to move on. It might be a week, who knows? Microsoft needs to cough up the date.”

This was the same interview that saw Moore explain that Microsoft has been aggressive with EA, when asked about the special partnership between both companies. Check it out here.

Do you think Microsoft needs to pull the finger out and drop a date on us? Discuss below.

I think they will drop a date one week after the release of GTA 5.

Whats wrong EA? Your unprecedented partnership can’t gain you access to the release date?

I’m sure he knows – he’d just like for it to be public (for the sake of promotion).

    Nov 8/22 I think.

Can’t launch the same week, have to get out before Black Friday.

With all the production/software problems Microsoft currently has…wouldnt be surprised if they loose a few months.

They already announced that many countries wont see a Xbone release for a while.

But I am sure they are desperately trying to release in the important countries close to the PS4 release.

I think they’re still in the fog.
Sony made a strategic move and placed the release in Mid November even if lots of sources claimed PS4 could have been ready for late October.
If you think about it the release was announced after the no announcement of XBone release
I think that Sony is in the position to push 1-2 week forward the release of PS4 if Microsoft dispatch the XBone too close.
Say Microsoft announces November 15th and Sony announces that thanks to manufacturing going well PS4 will be available November 1st.
Sony is really playing chess, so this scenario wouldn’t surprise me.

I’m starting to believe that the date won’t be released till a month to a month and a half out of the actuall date. We know it isn’t releasing Nov 15. That’s for sure and I don’t see them releasing after the PS4 either. Though it shouldn’t matter cause preorders for the system will be why it will be scarce in stores anyways. This will hold true for both systems all the way till the 1st quarter of next year.

I love Xbox, the games, friends, the controller, and even the “PLAY IT FIRST ON XBOX LIVE” slogan i’ve learned to trust. I just shelled out $542.49 for an Xbox One, and then i hear that SONY is first to release, SONY is whats going to be playing COD GHOSTS first, SONY is cheaper, SONY is more powerful, SONY is bundling the EYE and 2 controllers + Killzone for the same price….and the fans and gamers know exactly WHEN they can pick up the console & WHEN they’re going to be playing. Microsoft was great, but Sony isn’t keeping everyone in the dark. It’s been a hard choice to make, but tomorrow, I’m switching my order to the PS4.
