Beyond: Two Souls rated R18+, drug use looks like the major culprit

Quantic Dream's latest, Beyond: Two Souls, has surprisingly earned an R18+ rating from the Australian Classification Board.

According to the Classification database, the game contains high impact violence and drug use, strong impact themes, moderate impact language and sex, and very mild impact nudity.

The rating offers consumer advice warnings, too, for "threats of sexual violence and interactive drug use".

Beyond Two Souls is a PlayStation 3 exclusive due in early October. Its plot has been kept under wraps, but we know protagonist Jodi is taken from her parents at an early age due to her connection with at least one spirit, Aiden. Her adult life includes a period of homelessness and service in the military. The game follows Jodi's life over the span of 15 years, from eight through 23, and and is concerned with questions of the afterlife, and it seems players may get to experience this directly, as there's no game over screen even if Jodi dies.
