Supreme Court game trials were "kind of hilarious", says Justice

Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan has said she and her colleagues played video games before a landmark 2011 ruling which brought games under the protection of the US's free speech laws.

According to an Associated Press report, Kagan made an appearance this week in which she discussed her colleagues' tech savvy - or rather, lack of it.

Kagan said the Justices still send paper memos and are quite out of touch with Internet technologies, and rely on younger aides to advise them when necessary - but also keep an open mind, and try to learn about things independently. Prior to the 2011 ruling on games, several Justices who had never tried games before played a few violent video titles.

"It was kind of hilarious," Kagan said, not mentioning which games the Justices tried.

Adorable. Kagan herself, at 53, is the youngest Supreme Court Justice and said she's quite familiar with modern technologies and communication methods.
