Payday 2 publisher 505 Games promises to restock UK

It seems that the availability of Overkill’s heist-based shooter Payday 2 at retail has been sorely lacking in the UK since the game launched last week, with copies being hard to find on shelves. 505 Games is scrambling to fix the problem.

A 505 spokesperson wrote on the company’s official Facebook page last night, “505 Games is aware that our retail partners are currently experiencing a product shortage for Payday 2 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We are working hard to remedy this by shipping out more copies daily in order to ensure that store shelves are being re-stocked as quickly as possible.”

There’s no word on whether 505 expected lower sales, or if it was simply in higher demand than anticipated. It hasn’t done too much damage. The game was profitable before it was even released, and reached the top spot on the UK charts this week.

Did you have any trouble finding a copy?

Remember guys, the game is also available for PC and on PS3′s online store.

Obviously, physical copies are great… I do hope they restock soon so you guys get to play. It’s a fun game and it’s another nail in the coffin of “review” websites that don’t really review games, but expect bribes for good reviews.

It’s also available as a PS+ trial if you are a sub. My Tesco copy still in transit I tried the full game trial last night. 4GB download and you get an hours play with little reminders about how much time you have left every 15 minutes or so. On the plus side I only ended up paying £15 for my PS3 copy from Tesco as they had a pre-order code and gave me an unrequest £5 refund for dispatching late.

@2 The low cost of the game is something reviews don’t seem to take into account too.

@3 It’s a multiplayer co-op game. Plain and simple. Yet, when games that tack on the lesser functioning game modes (like adding multiplayer to a single player based game and vice verse), they still get stellar reviews like The Last of Us and Call of Duty.

Payday 2 comes along, ditches single player all together, and reviews bitch “the AI sucks, it’s unplayable solo.” Well of course it’s bad to play alone, it’s a CO-OP game! $20-$30 cheaper at that!
