Tywin Lannister to appear in The Witcher 3

Wednesday, 14th August 2013 21:58 GMT By Phil Owen

The actor who has become the face of Game of Thrones’ Tywin Lannister and never fails to scare the hell out of us, the great Charles Dance, will have a role in The Witcher 3 as Emperor Emhyr var Emrei of Nilfgaard.

Wither 3 lead writer Marcin Blacha called the casting a “dream come true,” which I believe because that guy is awesome and scary.

So who is this guy Dance is playing? Well, at the end of The Witcher 2, Nilfgaard invaded the north and tore it all up, and by the time of The Witcher 3 still controls an area called No Man’s Land that was depicted in the CG trailer for the game we saw this morning.

He met with Geralt couple of times, spared his life and let Ciri go with him in the end, even though he had different plans for her.

Charles Dance has an epic voice, can’t wait for Witcher 3 and “Killing Monsters” of all kind.

WOW. I wasn’t expecting that, CDProjekt ain’t exactly Activision or Rockstar, to secure this kind of talent. Dance is a high caliber actor, I still remember him from Alien3 and I find his to be the best book to tv series translation of any character from aSoIaF. Hope we’ll see more of his kind in The Witcher 3, although if that’s it, then that’s OK too, TW2 already had a strong cast.

I’m Polish, but I prefer english voice acting in TW2. It seems I’m not going back to polish VA with TW3 either.

Easily the most skilled actor on GoT right now, after Sean Bean. This is really great news, cannot wait to play this on a PC with max settings.

Nah, the only movie that made me afraid was John Carpenter’s The Thing, and that was a long time ago (great score by Ennio Moricone). Dance is great in the series though, he nailed the character and made him even better than I envisioned Tywin myself, even if I still hugely prefer the books over the show.
