Media Molecule holding Tearaway-themed design contest in LittleBigPlanet

Tuesday, 13th August 2013 20:39 GMT By Phil Owen

Today’s PlayStation Store update brings some free Tearaway stuff for LittleBigPlanets 2 and Vita, but it’s not all fun and games. The point of this package is to get you to build an LBP level in the Tearaway style and then upload it. If you make a level that is actually good, you might win a Vita.

The judges in this contest are not the community, fortunately, but the Media Molecule folks themselves, and whichever ones they deem the best of the US and Europe will earn the creators a Vita of the 3G variety (no games or memory cards, though). Four others will get some sweet artwork. The contest is for both US and Europe, each of which will be separate competitions, and will close on September 9 for the former and September 14 for the latter. For your level to count as a contest entry, you’ll need to tag it with “TearawayCompetitionUS” or “TearawayCompetitionEU”, depending on where you live. Have fun.

Media Molecule judging…then at 80% the winner has already a name.

Also, as a Community member the created the Little Big Planet Central Contest Crew I feel pretty offended by Phil Owen’s sentence, since he doesn’t even imagine the amount of hard work and honesty of people that helps in the Community and doesn’t get paid.

Is the situation with LBP and Media Molecule really that bad?

Haven’t noticed many people complaining about this on the blog, websites etc etc.

I wasn’t bagging on the LittleBigPlanet community with that comment. I’m just not a fan of the idea of a sanctioned contest like this being judged by the contestants. That isn’t a LittleBigPlanet-centric philosophy.

@3 Media Molecule stepped away from LBP and left the managing of the game in bad hands.
People does not complain, because there’s a bunch of butt kissers that would put the complainers to a side.
So people leaves silently instead of fighting for something, because the problem is radicated in a corrupted Community.
A Community that was corrupted with favours (from being officily recognized on Sony’s blog to be invited at events, being hired to work on LBPVita or LBP3 or given free stuff)

Being in the Community from day one I can say the situation is SAD to say the least.
I left after a full year of fights against the management, with whom I was in contact, doing all the sort of idiot things and being lazy and refusing to listen.

Just look at the overall quality and amount of the users’ levels in the last year and a half and you’ll get an idea.

When a Community lose the fairness concept IT’S OVER.

Yup, you’re right, that’s an official contest and has to be judged by official people.
Though, having being involved in that stuff I found that comment a bit out of place.
    No grudge ;)
