Phil Spencer to deliver gamescom keynote

Microsoft's Game Studios vice president Phil Spencer will give the keynote address at gamescom 2013 next week.

UPDATE: gamescom 2013's organisers Koelnmesse have confirmed Spencer's keynote address to CVG, although the specific date and timing of the session has yet to be confirmed.

ORIGINAL STORY: In a press release supposedly sent out by Microsoft to German outlets, Spencer's address was announced and it appears as if the address will come at the start of GDC Europe.

Reporting on the press release, 4Players has posted Spencer's statement on the matter.

"The industry is at a turning point," writes Spencer in the release. "Gamescom is the ideal platform to discuss the impact of new hardware, accessories and software for the next generation of games. There has never been a better time to be a part of this industry. It is exciting to see how developers and authors to use the new opportunities and create a completely new way of playing."

The site adds that Spencer's address will go into the challenges of next-gen development - not just on Xbox One - but across the board.
