Pokemon X and Y Mega Evolutions detailed, trailered

Friday, 9th August 2013 14:35 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Nintendo has released a new Pokemon X and Y trailer, confirming the information posted yesterday regarding Mega forms of the battling critters.

Three new Pokemon were also revealed: Dedenne, Horubii, and Meekuru, and while you watch the trailer, were uploading new shots for the game. So check back in a bit for those.

Mega Evolution is a new transformation certain Pokemon can undergo during battle by allowing them to “tap into hidden reserves of strength and power” unrealized in their regular Evolutions.

Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo and Mega Lucario can use the Mega Evolution power in battle and will see their looks change and stats increase, giving Trainers a great advantage against their opponents.

Some who use this system may even change their Ability or type while in battle – but only certain Pokemon, under certain conditions, can Mega Evolve, Unlike regular Evolution, Mega Evolution only occurs during battle—once the battle ends, the Mega-Evolved Poke will return to its usual state.

IN order to pull off a Mega Evolution, trainers will need an item called a Mega Stone which exist for all Pokemon that can Mega Evolve. Each is also named after the Pokemon to which it grants power.

For instance, the “Lucarionite Mega Stone” will help Lucario Mega Evolve.

Mega Stones are hidden throughout the Kalos region, and players must find them to be able to unlock the powerful Evolution.

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are out worldwide October 12 on 3DS.

The people who moan are obviously flimsy fans. For those who play competitively, this opens multiple new doors and new strategies to unlock.
