The Simpsons RPG has been discussed, series writer confirms

The Simpsons writer Al Jean has confirmed that there has - at some point - been talk of an RPG based on Matt Groening's iconic show, and that more Simpsons games could be on the way following the success of Tapped Out on iOS.

Speaking during a GoldDerby Google Hangout video, Jean was asked about the possibility of a Simpsons RPG, to which he replied, "Yeah, we've talked about it. It's a really complicated thing to do, especially because you have to write a number of possibilities for each occurrence.

"We've been at it so long. I mean, the first game was an arcade game. So there's been unbelievable history to the video games that have come off the show. And we're a ride at [Universal Studios], which is amazing," he added. "So I think that kind of thing is not going to stop. In fact, it will just increase."

When GameSpot contacted EA to see if any new games were in production based on the show, a spokesperson replied, "We can't comment on rumors or speculation."
