Edge of Eternity, a turn-based RPG based on the Final Fantasy 7 era combat system, is heading to Kickstarter in September.

The game takes place in a universe described by its developer, Midgar Studio, as “space/medieval/steampunk,” with a mature story.

Here’s a synopsis from the developer: “The peaceful world of Heryon is threatened by an alien civilization which have invaded the world, they bring with them a disease who turn people and animals to metal monsters. The hero, Daryon, hunted by his own people, must discover his origin and save the universe from collapsing.”

Edge of Eternity will be available on iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8, Blackberry 10, Vita, Ouya, Wii U, Xbox One, PS4, PC, Linux, and Mac.

Players will be able to sync their save between all platforms with their account.

The team said it would also like to add support for Oculus Rift.

I’d be excited if it was actually turn-based. Anything with ATB aspects is not really turn-based to me, just real-time with a handicap. If I want action in my fantasy combat, I play hack’n'slays.

Hello sh4dow, nothing is definitive until kickstarter, we are really opened to improve the game for the community, i started a topic about battle system on an ouya forum, if you want to argue about pure turn based ff10 like i’d like you to come to discuss with us on this topic

Thanks a lot for your feedback :).

    For what it is worth,

I prefer FF10 game system to predecessors FF7…
The ATB system is cool, do not get me wrong. ATB allow more seamless turn base throughout loading bars but I felt FF10 allow better immersion with greater sense of RPG/Strategy and greater vision on what is going on during battles because I felt characters better.

Regardless of the choice, it sounds like a very interesting game! I love TBS/RPG

    Cheer :)
