Ridge Racer: Driftopia closed beta begins today on Steam

Ridge Racer: Driftopia’s closed beta has begun on Steam, and you can sign up for a spot today.

In a press release sent to VG247 today, Namco Bandai confirmed that you can register for the test phase here.

The game is coming to PC and PS3 and is in development at Bugbear Entertainment, the same studio behind Ridge Racer Unbounded.

    Why u do so bad business namco=?====???? NObody wants a free to play racer on PC!!!!!

    OK, man, Namco just release this on consoles for 59.99 and its a hit!

    I would be interested in seeing a hands-on report on this, if possible. It’s because on the back of a social media comment by the account associated with the game, I’m not that sure it’ll turn out well. :(

    (The post was something like “this is ridge racer DRIFTOPIA, not RIDGE RACER driftopia”)

    Unbounded was a very weak game!
    i LOVE the presentation, but the controls was not just good. the game was just lacking.

    @4 I felt they placed too much emphasis on the shortcuts and wall-smashing to the point that the “tracks” could lose any sense of flow. It just felt poorly balanced, against the interesting part of simply racing. Had the styles been better fused more seamlessly into one another, the game would only have been greatly improved.
