Shadowgate to have achievements, secret deaths

It's quite likely that Shadowgate will have achievements for finding hidden deaths, too.

In a recent Kickstarter update, Zojoi detailed two new additions to the Shadowgate reboot.

The new achievements system is designed to add replayability. The tasks on offer will range from skill-based challenges like clearing the game in record time to meticulous collections like finding every object.

If the adventure makes it through Steam Greenlight, the achivements will be tied to Steam's system, but will be available on all platforms regardless.

Although Zojoi didn't make the link, I'm willing to place a bet that some of the achievements will be related to what the developer calls its "hidden deaths" system; in the spirit of classic adventures, Shadowgate will "reward" your exploration with a range of nasty, unpredictable deaths which players will have to find for themselves.

Shadowgate is expected in November on Mac and PC. The original released in 1987 and is one of the best-loved Macventures. It gave birth to two sequels and numerous ports; the NES release is particularly memorable.

Thanks, Massively.
