Dota 2 International prize pool tops $2.6 million, unlocks new bonus

Dota 2 players have passed the sixth and penultimate stretch goal for sales of The Compendium, unlocking a new bonus and pouring $2.6 million into The International's prize pool.

From a base of $1.6 million, the prize pool for The International increases by $2.50 for every sale of the Compendium, an interactive guide to Dota 2. At time of writing, the total accumulated stood at $2,698,017.

$2.6 million was the sixth stretch goal of seven, and awards a new Immortal item to all compendium owners.

With about $500,000 more - 200,000 further sales - the community will unlock the final goal, which will allow Compendium owners to choose the next Dota 2 champion.

The total passed $2 million as recently as May.

The International is Valve's annual Dota 2 tournament, which serves as the world championship. The finals will be held in Seatlle from August 7 through 11.
