The Elder Scrolls Online: those pesky Scamps are back, and with a vengeance

Saturday, 27th July 2013 16:05 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

As if Daedra weren’t bad enough on their own, their favorite, small battle fodder are back in The Elder Scrolls Online: Scamps.

Yes, the little bastards from Morrowind and Oblivion are back and looking over the video of them in action, it seems they thrive on being able to swarm the player.

While in the past I personally didn’t find them to be much of a threat, as they were rather easy to disperse of, they could cause me a bit of frustration if they were summoned while I was fighting something more formidable.

This time out, they offer a bit of comic relief to go along with their sharp talons.

A developer blog discussing the changes made to the critters is through here.

The PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One MMORPG is expected in 2014 and you can sign up for the beta here.

If you get a key to it, let me know so I can start glaring at you from afar and cursing your name under my breath.

Wait… does the game actually look that bad? Why… why does it look worse now than when I saw it last? It’s been getting progressively worse. I… don’t understand. I’m confused. :I Both in fidelity and aesthetics it’s just… degrading itself. Or did it always look that bad and I didn’t notice?

Guh. I hate low-res, blurry normal maps. I’d prefer none to that.

    Hi TheWulf,

This is an early version, it does not mean it will look that way on your machine. Though consider not all PC are equal and AAA companies attempt to staisfy everyone; therefore what you see may be on low or lowest acepted graphic card.
Yes, just like you I have seen pre-rendered video of much much much better quality and I do not expect TESO to look just that way.
Yet be aware this is an MMO, it is always difficult to make a game look super great when you know your world is going to be invaded by thousands of players.
    Only time will tell :)
