The Guild Wars 2 update, Cutthroat Politics goes live today, and ArenNet has released screenshots to accompany the content.

The update allows players to choose between two different candidates, which will cause "permanent changes" to the game world of Tyria.

Here's a breakdown of the events:

Support Your Candidate – July 23 - August 5
New Activity – Southsun Survival – Begins today
New PvP Activity – Aspect Arena – Begins today
Candidate Trials Challenge – Begins today

New rewards include exclusive new back items and a mini Ellen Kiel and mini Evon Gnashblade.

A new WvW Ability Line called Catapult Mastery will also be made available.

You can have a look at both candidates as well as glean more information on the update through a previous post.

ArenaNet also recently discussed its content plans leading up to the end of 2013 last week.
