State of Decay will come to PC in 2013, sandbox mode teased

Undead Labs today announced via livestream that they will be releasing the Xbox Live hit State of Decay on PC before the end of the year. It will come first in a controller-only flavor in Steam Early Access, but when it officially launches it will of course have keyboard and mouse support.

Content-wise, it will be the same game, but with higher-resolution textures, better visuals in general and a higher frame rate. No mod tools, but they don't care if you wanna have a go of it anyway. Meanwhile, Title Update 3 for the game on Xbox 360 will allow you to take an NPC friend with you as you go out and do stuff, which while not as good as having another player with you might help sate the desire to not be alone all the time.

State of Decay's upcoming sandbox mode was also teased, and Undead's Sanya Weathers summed up that tease on the forums as such: "Without going into too much detail (although details are coming within a week), you start in the world, build your community, clean the valley out - and when it runs dry, you can leave with some portion of your community and go to "the next valley." The next valley is the same map, repopulated with resources...but harder. More zombies. More difficulty. Just...more."

Look for the Title Update 3 patch notes later this week.
