Epic Games is recruiting for a new team member to help develop an unannounced title, which according to the studio is an, “unannounced competitive online action game that includes player progression, heavy itemization, and a dynamic economy.” Get the details inside.

UPDATE: VG247 contacted Epic Games for a statement on the job post below, and we were supplied the following quote, “We’re making something new and exciting that doesn’t fit easily into some existing genre. It’s going to be uniquely Epic, but we have nothing further to announce at this time.”

ORIGINAL STORY: As spotted by NeoGAF, the Epic Games job post calls for a senior system designer with experience of, “building and/or playing Shooters, MMO’s, RPG’s, or RTS games,” and who has, “demonstrated experience with advancement, itemization and progression based systems.”

It continues, “Epic Games is looking for a Systems Designer to join one of two projects. One of the teams is working on an unannounced competitive online action game that includes player progression, heavy itemization, and a dynamic economy; the other is for Fortnite.

“In either of these roles you’ll be working on the biggest most important systems and will have a hand in designing everything from economics and itemization to balancing combat mechanics. You’ll be responsible for general design, balance, rules, interface, etc. and will play an integral role in defining the outcome of the project.”

It sounds like an MMO doesn’t it? We’ve asked the company for comment. Stay tuned.

What is Epic Games doing? We saw Fornite, a promising game announced, and since then its like Epic have dropped off the planet. All its key staff and big names have left. And now, after being mostly bought out by a Chinese company, competitive online title with dynamic economy? What a sell out.

Wonder if its Unreal Tournament – F2P or something stupid…

UT? :D “heavy itemization, and a dynamic economy” That almost fits right in with the Liandri Corp. fiction, and the series includes some pretty adventurous weapon design…Building that idea out, to where the weapons are now custom-builds (like the competitors!) isn’t that far out of an idea, imo.

    Dynamic economy.

I read that as, “you get to pay and pay and pay again, and we’ll call it an innovation”.

just make a new Unreal Tournament or Unreal 2 man.

Unreal Tournament 3 failed because they over developed the game.
how can you over develop a game? by keep working on it when it is done and you add too much stuff.

it’s like having a perfect cake, but you keep baking and baking the cake that it’s uneatable
