Saint’s Row 4 ‘low violence version’ appears on Steam Australia

Tuesday, 2nd July 2013 10:26 GMT By Dave Cook

Saint’s Row 4 developer Volition has listed a ‘low violence version’ of it’s mad sandbox romp on Steam Australia. The listing comes as the regular version was denied classification across the country last week.

Kotaku AU reports that the ‘low violence version’ is only applicable to Steam Australia, and pre-orders are being accepted now.

When asked by Kotaku AU, the Australian Classification Board said it had no idea the game was being sold on Steam, suggesting that it has not yet passed certification. Responding to the listing, a Deep Silver rep told the site that, “Deep Silver has no further comments at this time.”

We’ll keep our eyes on this one for now. The game’s out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 from August 20 in the States, and August 23 across Europe.

Thanks Polygon.

They should have labelled it “SR4: Auzzie version” and royally took the piss out of the censorship, e.g. by adding fluffy panda guns which cuddle people until they go to sleep and making people giggle when shot with your rainbow gun.

So they take away the only thing the game has going for it, senseless violence and humor only a 12 year old would find funny.

Like selling a car without an engine.

No thanks. Already pre-ordered from the UK so the Aussie retailers can stick it.

This is it. The worst possible outcome. Australia did it. They forced censorship upon a creative team (And in terms of fantasy / artisitc freedom, there is no difference between Anal Probe of SR, classic moments of Godfather trilogy and highlights of LOTR books).

    Fucking assholes.

@1 Hahahaha this would be worth making an Australian Steam account and purchasing that version as well :D

@3 Since it’s the Steam version there could be an issue where you can’t register the “violent” version of the game or the system just revolves your registered key into the Auzzie version.

@1 Deep Silver need to hire you forthwith. Right now they’re letting themselves get fucked with the purple dildo of censorship.
