Mattrick left Microsoft due to a planned reorganization - report

Don Mattrick left Microsoft due to a planned reorganization which would have put him as head of a newly created hardware division. According to Fast Company, Mattrick wanted a bigger role at the firm, so he left.

This is according to sources speaking with the site, which stated that instead, he chose the role of CEO of Zynga instead, where he will be working with his old EA boss and Zynga board member Bing Gordon.

Thanks to the news of Mattrick joining Zynga, stock in the firm rose 11% on Monday to $3.04.

Microsoft Steve Ballmer wished Mattrick luck in a company memo sent out yesterday, and the former Xbox mans will take over the CEO role for Mark Pincus.
