Microsoft opens first round of next-gen Kinect Windows development kit application

Wednesday, 26th June 2013 21:21 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Microsoft is accepting applications for Kinect Windows development kits. The price is $399, and since this is the first round of application, there are a limited number of slots, and those accepted will get their kits in November. You must have filled out an application by July 31. The commercial version launches next year. Thanks, Eurogamer.

I’m now officially convinced that this is a Sony fan site. Not once in this article did they mention that you get 2 kinect bars and support from Microsoft. This article is written in such a way to ignore crucial facts and just have people crap on Microsoft.

Give it a rest troll just because they leave out details you can’t accuse them of being a Sony fan site. Makes no sense.

They never mentioned any important details leading people like yourself to think that this the the price for a consumer version of Kinect. It’s just sad. I’m a troll now for looking for objectivity now. I had to leave Destructoid, Kutaku, Computer and Videogames, ign now it looks like I will have to leave this site too. It’s like Sony has made the whole Internet unreadable with Sony trolls just ruining every site I go to. Oh well anyway you guys enjoy your site. Have a great day.

This is Kinect for Windows. MS belive new Windows 8 only work properly with a Kinect. You can wink and jump around like crazy, and NSA recognize every face peeking in front of the camera.

No you’re a troll for implying VG247 is a Sony fan site. No its not the price for the “consumer version” as it states in the title it is for “developmental kit applications” .

There’s been some amazing stuff done in the world of robotics / pattern recognition with the original Kinect and there’s going to be a whole lot more done with the new and improved version.

Given what cameras with this sort of functionality used to cost (multiple thousands) this is definitely a good thing.

Now Kinect and gaming, that’s another story entirely…
