Ouya launches today in North America and the UK. The Android console can now be purchased through Amazon, Best Buy, GAME and Target for $99.99. Extra controllers will run you $49.99 each. It comes with over 170 free-to-try games,, TuneIn and Plex as well as the Make Channel that allows developers to build and test games. It has already sold out on Amazon, and many who pre-ordered via Kickstarter are still yet to receive the system. Thanks, Polygon.

At least according to the OUYA people, the problem occurred with their business partner managing to send the units out in time, since the OUYA people sent the units to their partner in May. Also, the majority (but certainly not all) of cases where people didn’t get their OUYAs in time were for international backers, since it takes longer to ship to some countries.

For my part, I’ve had my OUYA for a month now. I downloaded a few games, but I haven’t tried them out yet since I have a lot of other PS3 and PC games to go through. I’ve tried the Twitch app, and it’s overall nice, but at least for me, it experiences lag that I don’t get if I try to access it from a PC. My best guess for why is that I think the OUYA defaults to the highest possible resolution, and maybe on PC it goes with something lower.

Have they given a list, yet, of what parking lots the van they’re going to sell these out of is going to stop?
