Xbox One November 27 release is just a placeholder

Monday, 24th June 2013 03:59 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Responding to Amazon’s November 27 release listing for the Xbox One, Microsoft has denied it has set an official launch date.

“We have not informed our retail partners about a specific launch date for the Xbox One,” a representative told IGN.

“It is commonplace for retailers to put placeholders dates and prices into our system until they are given a specific date and price. We are excited to release the Xbox One in November 2013.”

As Steph noted when posting the listing, it was always an odd date – too late in the month to pip Sony at the post, and well behind the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts. Also, a Wednesday, which is weird.

It’s not a weird date. That would be the wednesday before Black Friday here in the States. Only the biggest shopping day of the year.
