    So much for “next-gen only” announce before E3…

    Current-gen will plague and drag gaming down for years after next-gen has released. Shamed.

    False.

    @1 Yep , that’s why we didn’t see good graphics or big levels.

    @3 MS has already announced long support period for X360 after X180 has come out. Limitations of current-gen will have impact on “next-gen gaming” if developers / publishers aren’t willing to ditch “Same game on all platforms” -thinking.

    Its the transition period, a few years down the line and support for the older consoles slowly die out. I get what you mean though, holding back next gen games due to current gen limitations.

    Really hate this. The whole point of having 8Gb ram for Xbone and PS4 is to make greater and more seamless levels while their upgraded CPUs make more interesting physics and AI elements.
    With the cross-gen game, all of that is gone.

    Also, now only The Witcher 3 is a TRUE next-gen game for PC, Xbone and PS4. No fucking PS3, 360 or Wii U.

    @8 Yep. I can’t wait to see how its going to smash Dragon Age Inquisition :D

    Apart from 1st party, Your right Witcher 3 is the only next game announced

    I meant the true next-gen multiplat. Pretty much every multi is coming to current gen. From Titanfall and Destiny to Evil Inside and Watch Dogs. Not sure about the Division though.

    @9
    W3 is probably going to smash a lot of games. I just hope the next Fallout game is like that. The sole reason Oblivion was so mind blowing when it came out (And blinded me to its many faults) is that they stuck to the next-gen delivered something that was truly beyond anything I’d seen on PS2 or Xbox 1 (The old 1).

    Speaking about Witcher games. Witcher 2′s Full Combat Rebalance mod got released today, must have for next playthroughs: http://redkit.cdprojektred.com/index.php?c=mod&m=show&p=77

    @11 Actually now when you mention it , The Division and The Crew are next gen only.

    @9 Why are people comparing it to Dragon Age? Seriously, after playing the Witcher games and the Dragon Age games, I can say they nothing alike except maybe they both have swords in them. Comparing them is foolish. Also, they’re games, not consoles, one shouldn’t “smash” the other, unlike consoles, they don’t cost £350+ a game, people will just by both.

    @14 Because Dragon Age: Inquisition PR talk promotes that they are going for open world gameplay with more actiony approach. Sounds a lot like what Witcher 3 is doing hence comparisons between two.

    Especially now that it seems that release windows will collide, one game being cross-gen game and one game being 100% next-gen.

    @15 I still think its a bit foolish, the games will always be set apart IMO.

    @16 Not really if Dragon Age really goes for whole “open world, 3rd person action game” set in fantasy middle ages, just like Witcher (3) games do. Dragon Age will be compared to Witcher 3 and vise versa.

    does anyone remember a quote from a physics game company saying in next gen you have to be able to punch a whole in a wall, that thats the amount of next gen were going into no longer dents which eventually fade away after 20 hits. well i just think that applies to bf4, even this website says its not as destructible as we’d want :/ here’s hoping thats not due to this gen pull backs.

    @5: That means nothing. The PS2 also had a long support period but at one point the big developers stopped bothering with doing shitty ports and hired some unknown developers to make some half-assed game.

    @18 Current-gen will limit game development as long publishers intent on cross-gen game development. “Next-gen gaming” will just mean some extra polygons and shinier graphics as long current-gen is dragged along.

    @20 yeah thats disappointing :/

    @17 What talk said it was more action like? I heard that they tried to make it a mixture of the best bits if DA:O and DA:2 with an open world like Skyrim’s…

    #22 1 year ago
  23. Tavarish

    @22 And Mass Effect developers have said next ME will take A LOT from upcoming DA and I can’t see them moving away from 3rd person action so DS: I is most likely moving towards 3rd person action with Fallout kind pseudo turn based combat.

    Proof that this is limiting the scope on the game.

    “The development team wanted to take special care to ensure their vision for the game was achievable on the current generation of machines”

    its a lot harder for them to ditch current gen when theres so many consoles out there, with the price of new consoles, lack of jobs, recessions all over the world, switching to next gen is gonna take longer for a lot of people esp when you cant really see the huge benefits.
    All I seen so far is slightly better graphics which to people who care more bout storyline, gameplay, current gen is fine. The whole instant play doesnt make much difference either. Last gen we went from SD to HD, nothing stands out for next gen.

    @23 – I don’t think it will be as action like as you’re making it out to be, I bet the combat remains incredibly similar in some aspect.

    Why buy this game to a new console if it won’t use that heavy power?
