Deep Down is not a sequel to Dragon's Dogma

Capcom has confirmed that its Panta Rhei demo Deep Down is not part of the Dragon's Dogma franchise.

On the Capcom Unity forums, Capcom USA senior vice president Christian Svensson responded to theories that Deep Down is a sequel or spin off to Dragon's Dogma, which have dogged the tech demo since its debut during the PlayStation 4 reveal.

"No new DD product has been announced so there's nothing I can comment on there," Svensson said.

"For reference DR3 and Deep Down have nothing to do with Dragon's Dogma."

The "DR3" in this comment refers to Dead Rising 3; the thread also addressed the question of what platform Deep Down is headed to, as Dead Rising 3 is an Xbox One exclusive.

The thematic similarities between Deep Down and Dragon's Dogma are pretty compelling in the first tech demo for Capcom's new Panta Rhei engine, but we don't know anything about the property itself apart from the fact that it is a new property and is headed to PlayStation 4 at the very least.

Thanks, Gematsu.
