Nintendo downloads Europe: New Super Luigi U leads the week

Monday, 17th June 2013 12:48 GMT By Dave Cook

Nintendo has published its weekly selection of downloadable games and DLC across Wii U and 3DS, and New Super Luigi U is the star attraction. It’s a lean, green, wailing week to be sure.

Wii U

New Super Luigi U is a large DLC pack for New Super Mario Bros. U and it releases at €19.99 / £17.99. It will also come as a standalone release in due course, but for now, the content adds 80 levels to the game, all of which are significantly more challenging than the on-disc content, and tailored to Luigi’s weird hover jump skill.

The original Mario Bros. hits Wii U Virtual Console, and it sees both plumbers running around 2D stages bopping and kicking enemies. You may remember it as the battle mode from Super Mario Bros. 3. It’ll cost you €4.99 / £3.49.

NES platformer Wrecking Crew also hits Wii U Virtual Console at €4.99 / £3.49, while Little Inferno is on sale until June 26 at €4.99 / £4.49, down from €9.99 / £8.99.

3DS

Over on the handheld store, the second GUILD02 game Bugs Vs Tanks! launches this week at €7.99 / £7.19, courtesy of creator Keiji Inafune.

The eShop will also receive three retail releases this week, starting with LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey at €39.99 / £34.99 from June 21. There is also a free demo if you want to try it out before buying. It’s followed by Rayman Origins at €19.99 / £17.99 and Luxor at €11.99 / £10.79.

This week’s full digital releases include 3D Game Collection at 24.99 / £11.99 and Gardenscapes at €24.99 / £14.99, while digital titles The Phantom Thief Stina and 30 Jewels and Witch’s Cat will both cost you €4.99 / £4.49. Finally, 101 DinoPets 3D will cost €4.00 / £3.59.

On 3DS Virtual Console this week you can get Game Gear classics Defenders of Oasis at €3.99 / £3.59 and Tail’s Adventure at €4.99 / £4.49.

Finally, Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo is on sale until July 4 at €2.49 / £2.49 down from €4.99 / £4.99.

DSiWare

Nintendo DSiWare will receive Armageddon Operation Dragon and Jewel Quest 5 – The Sleepless Star at 800 Points each.

It’s a big update. Do you see anything you like?

Thanks Nintendo Life.

New Super Luigi U is an impressively meaty bit of DLC, but for God’s sake Nintendo the original Mario Bros. should be free. Someone’s popping way too many mushrooms if they think they can charge that much (or anything, really) for that game.
