Battlefield 4: multiplayer save transfer between current and next gen builds being considered

Monday, 17th June 2013 13:23 GMT By Dave Cook

Battlefield 4 developer DICE may include some kind of cross-game transfer between current and next-gen versions of the shooter, according to the studio’s general manager and vice president Karl-Magnus Troedsson.

The issue stems from Battlefield 4 launching on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 from October 29 in the states, and November 1 in Europe. It will hit PS4 and Xbox One further down the line, so it seems bothersome that players might have to start their multiplayer career from scratch if they ‘grade-up’ to a next-gen console.

Speaking with MP1st at E3 last week, Troedsson was asked if a save transfer between generations was in the works.

He replied that the studio was, “…just started having this discussion, so this is not settled yet. But we have heard that – I don’t know if this came from inside or outside of DICE – but that is being discussed.”

So there you go, it’s on DICE’s collective hive mind. Would you like to see this feature included? Let us know below.

@1, I have battlefield 3 on xbox and pc. Admittedly that’s different though, don’t understand why you would buy the game on current generation when you plan to buy next gen, always buy the superior version!

I dont like MAG/Planetside and all the other MMO shooters or online shooters Cod/Battlefield etc.

Hope Destiny will be a great game and does not have a monthly subscription fee.

One buy, no fees Guild Wars style.

Not only you’d have to buy it twice, but it would be twice within a month. Useless feature that takes away from the game. Development is a 0-sum game.

ps3fanboy and backup are the same person.
MAG is shiiiiiit and so is PS3 and PS4. PS4 is just a PC packed inside a console case nothing more. Games are still better on PC with GTX Titan, GTX 780 and GTX 690 raping your PS4 everyday. Also higher resolution than 1080p (which is btw 7+ years old) and 60+fps. We can choose if we want to play with mouse/keyboard OR with a controller, you console-fuckers cant. We can plug in our PCs also with TVs and we pay less for more graphics and better game overall.
