Thursday, 13th June 2013 16:59 GMT By Dave Cook

Killzone: Shadow Fall has received its official PS4 North American pack art and some new screens out of E3 showing forests, guns and Helghan baddies. The game was confirmed as a launch title for Sony’s console earlier this week.

Thanks AGB.

I’m not too fond of Killzone FS (From what they’ve shown so far) but the box art looks cool.

I’ve never bothered with the KZ series as it was really “dull” but this feels more vivid/colorful. Let’s see how it’ll turn out.

Bland and graphically not next gen at all. – Crysis 1 on the PC. 2007.
Or have you looked at Metro:the Last Light on the PC?

Killzone Shadow Fall box art does a good job showing a “wall” between VSA and the Helghast.

KZ2 was ace!!! (except for the ending).. KZ3 was not great.. they really should have brought the grit from KZ2 back.. but this looks good too

Get out with your crysis crap.

Looks good? Yes, but it’s not better than next gen engines. Destiny, Titanfall, The Division and Killzone all look as good as Crysis 1 with mods, if not better.

If you think this game does not look graphically good or a step up from current Killzone 3 then you are a blind idiot.

I am a PC gamer and I own both consoles (360,PS3) and have to say that generally Killzone on PS3 looks great for consoles. Sure its 30fps at a pretty low internal rendered resolution then up scaled to fit a 720p display.

But this new killzone is NATIVE 1080P resoltion at 30fps. Which for a console shooter is more than enough, and it does look good. When the player is in a fire fight you can see the smoke effects look more realistic and have a better shape and physics to them. The debris flying around is also noticeably improved and the character models, gun models are way more detailed as well.

Sure its not ground breaking but it sure is a step up. The draw distance when the player is holding onto the helicopter is great and really shows off some nice effects too.

Remember it is not always about how many polygons a machine can push its about effects, a.i, physics, etc. Having this running at the same time means the developers have to trade off polygon count in order to use some of the processing time to calculate and render a scene.

I remember Crysis 1 on PC when it was released and I had a beast of a system at the time. My CPU was a Core 2 Extreme X6800 2.93GHz overclocked to 3.4GHz and a top of the line Nvidia 8800GTX Ultra and still in Crysis 1 I was getting 35fps average @ 1680×1050 at Max settings and in some areas it was below 25fps which was unplayable! The game looked stunning but to make a game that could not run on current hardware at the time was the killer for that game. This led to millions pirating it to see if their machines could run it and it became the PC benchmark game for years. Crytek then attributed the failure in sales to pirating when it was their fault the game failed as they did not even release a demo of the game. If they had done that it may have done better a retail.

What really pisses me off a PC gamer is that we ALL know that our current gaming PC’s (mid-to-high end) are way more powerful than upcoming consoles yet games like Xbox One’s Quantum Break looks stunning, and if this is what they can get IN GAME from hardware like this imagine what they could get if they really tried to use mid-to-high end GPU/CPU’s on a PC.

@8, “Looks good? Yes, but it’s not better than next gen engines. ”

Next gen engines? Are you stupid or just retarded?

Titanfall is made on the SOURCE ENGINE and it looks a bit better then Call Of Duty. Destiny looks like current gen Halo game. The Division looks great but it has nothing to do with Crysis 1 because for the third person game textures and everything else is much easier to make because they don’t require high end textures or high poly models.

What about Killzone? It’s a current gen PC shooter at best:

    – Low res textures
    – Low poly models
    – simple dynamic lightning
    – No tesselation
    – water is Direct x9 level at best

@4 We get it man. You don’t like the graphics. BUT do you really have to say that in every fucking article about the damn game? We totally understand that you still wank to Crysis from 2007, we really do. But please, stop making a fool of yourself.

Stop making a fool of yourself. I am commenting about the screenshots and i’m comparing Crysis because I want to see a next gen game surpassing it for once.

and Crysis has nothing to do with it because I said something about you know, METRO:TLL that looks gorgeous. So nope, i’m not wanking to Crysis.

Erthazus, you need to play the game before you bash it. It looks better in action then on these screenshots .

Low poly models? over 40,000 per character …

Yep, and at least he’s consistent.

Can’t wait to play this though, I’ve had so much fun playing Operations in KZ3.

@14 Why, oh, why does it matter? Crysis 1 is offering an experience, KZSF is offering another, why can’t you just for once appreciate games for what they are, and don’t succumb to graphics, teselation, dynamic lightning and whatever else you call it these days? It just strikes me as strange.

I bet you are uncapable of enjoying games with strong, distinctive art direction that aren’t photorealistic fests.

Meh. Halo 4 is graphically on a par with this, IMHO. The again, I never understood any of the hype for KZ.

Erthazus and all other PC lovers, If you read my opinion please
In a console there is a “Roof” to how much powerful can one console be. There is no such thing in a PC in theory. Even if PS4 was 10 times more powerful than it right know. You can build a PC that wrecks it.
AND I am sure many of you have graphics card that are way more expensive than a PS4.
If you can build a PC with 399€ that can run a game at the same level of fidelity as KZFS at 1080P natively with at a stable 30fps, then you are absolutely right. If you can’t…

I’m a PC gamer too. From what I’ve seen of PS4 and X1 games, they look gorgeous and are a big step up from current gen. People that say otherwise are just trolling.

Shit I forgot about operations in 3.
Great mode but only 3 maps.
I hope they include more maps this time.
