During the Horizon Indie Game Conference at E3, Greg Rice from Double Fine and Kellee Santiago announced a new partnership between Indie Fund and Double Fine to produce two new games.

No other details were mentioned, but our gal on the ground Catherine Cai sent us the information. We’ll tell you more about this as more information becomes available.

Indie Fund was created by independent developers Jonathan Blow, 2DS Boy’s Ron Carmel and Kyle Gabler, Kellee Santiago and others as a funding source for independent developers looking for an alternative to the traditional publisher funding model.

what indies need to do, ( and i know this is a bit out there), is to make games that can serve as alternates to the AAA Games.. obviously, making narratives are super expensive, but designing gameplay isn’t. And people don’t really care about the GFX if the game plays great.
Like why isn’t there an indie game that works on the same principles as shadow of collosus. I bet a small 10 15 people team can make one. And it will sell too.

Studios like Valve have always worked on that principle. Fewer people make for better games. Looking at something like The Witcher 2 compared to way more expensive action RPGs, I’m inclined to agree.
