Metal Gear Solid 5 on PC is not a priority at the moment, says Kojima

Wednesday, 12th June 2013 19:06 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain may eventually be released on PC, according to Hideo Kojima, but it’s not a priority at the moment.

Speaking with GTTV, Kojima said his team is currently developing on PC, and will release a PC title at some point.

“Of course we are developing on a PC, so we look forward to releasing something on the PC sometime, but right now we have no release date,” he said. “We are not really looking to do that right now, that’s not a priority.

“We are making it and we hope to put it out [on PC] as well.”

So keep hope alive, then.

MGS5 will be released on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and is still without a release date.

Thanks, PCgamesN.

    @2: I doubt it. There’s no real fanbase for MGS in the PC market. They ruined that by only releasing two mediocre ports of the first MGS titles.

    As a PC Gamer I’d rather play Metal Gear Solid on a Sony console any day. Feels wrong otherwise.

    @1 , i have nothing but time :D
    @4 , why u doubt it ? .. for me i prefer to play MGS with DX11 and full graphics @ 2560×1600 , maybe attach controller and sit back or K&M if well supported ! and it isn’t just me . every PC gamer want to do that !

    They would had to check if theirs demand for it, which i am not sure they have done in any public way.

    Nah the game looks insanely good so the graphics junkies will get this along with those who have played the series before. Then they will tell their friends and so on.

    On the same boat. Same for Final fantasy and KH3 for me

    @7: Erth, is that you?

    @9: I don’t think it will be as successful as on consoles though. As I said, they ruined it themselves.

    If they are going to release it on Xbox One, they might as well release it on PC.

    @11 If they are releasing Ground Zeroes on curent gen they might as well release it on PC.
    On other hand, I kinda understand because game is ambitious by itself.
    Also we are getting Castlevenia 1 and 2 for PC so so I guess Konami also wants PC version.

    They are afraid that PC version will look better than all console versions combined so they wait a bit to sell well on consoles than release it on PC.

    If these games are built on PC, why do these companies find it hard to release on the PC. I’m so confused

    The engines are built with console in mind and only use that architecture and not only that but they also test the game using the DEV kits for the console. The PC is a much harder beast to test for with all the variations of hardware,OS, software running where the console is fixed so they don’t have to worry about lil’ Bobby running every single piece of software known to man and playing a game at the same time.

    @14 maybe because of piracy?a free alternative for those who also have a good gaming rig.Releasing it on PC may hurt sales (indirectly) for other platforms as well

    Ok, there is a giant market for Metal Gear Solid on PC.. Dark Souls had a horrible port to the PC but its still sold a ton.. Did anybody catch what he said?? “They are developing it on the PC”.. If you develop it on a PC, than it works on a PC.. Also, the architecture of the PS4 is quite like a PC now so stop lying to yourselves when you say a PC is sooo much different than the PS4.. Whats even more like a PC is the Xbone.. If you release it on the Xbone there is literally no other reason for not releasing it on the PC other than trolling.. Continuing, you know you can use PS3 controllers (with proper software) and a PS4 controller (thanks to the new drivers) on the PC. So wheres the different gameplay experience from a PC with a PS3/PS4 controller than a PS3/PS4 version with the same controller? To deal with the last rumors in this thread, that being Piracy; which is absolutely ridiculous.. You can pirate games on the console people.. Ya know that right? Good.. Alright well there are 2 different people who pirate games.. A) Pirates games cause he thinks he is cool (these people aren’t common) and B) People who pirate games because they don’t fully believe in the product or they think the price isn’t worth their money (There are a ton more B than there are A.. From what i have seen, MGSV is looking like a quality product. In the eyes of a PC gamer, its a steal for only (less than or equal too) 60.. The only logical statement may be is if they are working on removing bugs which will take more time on the PC version.. I don’t really understand why they are making the game look so good if they aren’t releasing it on the PC, since your PS4 and Xbone cannot run that game. No matter how much you would like it too, it simply will not happen. Perhaps, and this is a big perhaps.. Later on, as in a few years from now when the hardware is fully understood you may get such a result. But I don’t see it very feasible..

    @17 That… actually makes sense. PC ports have always been defamed by the bad apples (GTAIV and DaS for instance) though modding was present to fix the problems, people still cared about the lack of interest of the devs in bringing their games to the plat. Since their tech now is closer to a PC, the ports on PC will raise in number and quality.

    Though I must make a minor change “Whats even more like a PC is the Xbone…”
    both consoles have similar architecture to a mid-high PC, the difference is more noticeable on the PS4′s DDR5 RAM, but they both have very close specs to a top AMD/Radeon PC.

    Oh no doubt it won’t. PC gamers main fear is the story line…They don’t know it. That’s why I belive the legacy edition will come out for pc and X1 In the coming years.

    My priority is to get it for PS3, but if it’s released on the PC, it will easily be the best version, why? Because it would cover “current-gen” PCs and “next-gen” as well. If you get me.

    If it’s sold by Steam, I would buy it day one… but as I don’t know if it’s really coming for PC or not, I will go console again.

    Let’s face it, PC days are coming back. Castlevania, fighting games, Tomb Raider, MG Rising, Alan Wake, RE5-6, DmC, The Evil Within, all of them -at least the released- just perfect ports, even feel like native PC games… PC is back, not only shitty FPS anymore… and thanks to Steam, sometimes you can get them for crazy prices (got all Hitman games for $10 some time ago and the complete Alan Wake experience for only $4).
