Kingdom Hearts 3 will release on Xbox One

Tuesday, 11th June 2013 17:42 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Kingdom Hearts 3 maestro Shinji Hashimoto said during Square Enix’s E3 session today that the game will also be released on Xbox One.

The game was revealed during Sony’s E3 press event last night. It is being developed in Osaka, by the same team working on Kingdom Hearts 1.5.

It was announced during the same session that Final Fantasy 15 would also release on the Microsoft console.

Have look again at the video that made Brenna and I squeal with happiness last night below.

I can see that none of the titles from SE will be exclusive on any platform in the future.

Because it is easy to port one game to the next console.

Especially if you are making a game using direct X11. In other words, porting one game from one console to another is as easy as porting console game to the PC.

Xbox one and PS4 are very similar to each other. Here you go.

Yep, Sony had a lot of wording to confuse, words like ‘Console Debut Exclusive’ for all those Indie games which makes me think they will be multiplatform later.

Who cares? Unless they’re also getting the 1.5HD and 2.5HD Collections, the story is going to be an incomprehensible mess for them anyway. So, let them waste their money on a game where they won’t have the slightest clue what’s going on.

If someone is mentally deficient enough to actually purchase an Xbone, I doubt they’d have the comprehension to figure this game out, anyway.

who cares? If you want a PS4 and Kingdom Hearts 3 nothing changed, you can still have both. More People able to buy the Product means Kingdom Hearts 3 has more Potential Sales, which is good for the Kingdom Hearts Series.

    @13

So true, this is not a big deal at all. You’re going to start seeing less and less exclusives from the third party developers this time around. Unless Sony or MS cough up some serious cash to get the game exclusively on their system.

The only dumb fucks that are going to try to spin this into something negative are fucking idiots like this ‘Units’ character.

  19. Djoenz

Piss off xbots wont understand anyway. :P

    EDIT:

I have to explain it nonetheless. Final Fantasy got me into gaming and rpg’s. It was always tied to Sony playstation. I actually bought all my playstations purely for Final Fantasy titles.

I bought my PS3 for Versus. I got trolled by SE. They said it would be exclusive to ps3. I got trolled again it will be moved to PS4 instead. I got trolled again its now multiplat.

@14 When did they ever promise that Kingdoms Hearts 3 and FFXV would be platform exclusives?

Third party developers cannot afford to stick to one platform anymore, especially not triple A stuff like this. They’re essentially cutting off half the market by doing so.

Why should they, anyway? It broadens the exposure of the franchise and allows more people to play their games. Since when was inclusiveness a bad thing?

  21. Djoenz

FFXIII Versus was promised to be an exclusive actually.
I agree Xboxone will be same architecture like ps4, but seriously FFXIII got fucked up by Xbox’s version.

  22. OlderGamer

One of the big problems with fanboys isn’t that they want to be able to enjoy and experience their games, it is instead that they don’t want you to enjoy said games, unless you are doing it on the same piece of hardware, wearing the same tee shirt and waving the same team logo flag.

Because hardware means more to them then it should. And often times for all of the wrong reasons.

  23. Gnosis

@18 Pretty much this. It’s really naive to think, that there’s gonna be a bijillion of third pt exclusives. I’m actually expecting more games on both sides to go multi at some point.

I think it was implied but even then it was no promise, spot on with your points.

“Final Fantasy got me into gaming and rpg’s. It was always tied to Sony playstation.”

Except when FF first started and was a Nintendo exclusive franchise…

  28. Ireland Michael

@19 “Final Fantasy got me into gaming and rpg’s. It was always tied to Sony playstation.”

Final Fantasy I – VI say hi.

“I bought my PS3 for Versus.”

Why would you buy an expensive (at the time) console for a single unreleased title with no gameplay footage and no release date? Would it not have made more sense to wait for the game to come out?

“They said it would be exclusive to ps3. I got trolled again it will be moved to PS4 instead. I got trolled again its now multiplat.”

So? Now you get to play it on the PS4, with even better graphics.

It’s not a company’s duty to validate your own personal bias.

@19: “I have to explain it nonetheless. Final Fantasy got me into gaming and rpg’s. It was always tied to Sony playstation”

  31. Djoenz

Without exclusives why bother having three different types of consoles -__- you know what make all exclusives multi instead and make one super console.

That will do some variation for you.

@31 Competition keeps prices down and stops one individual company from dictating the entire market.

Since its appearing on the format *you* want anyway, it shouldn’t really matter if it also appears somewhere else.

  35. Djoenz

Look if SE didnt say it was a exclusive at the time around the reveal I wouldnt mind. SE just promises shit they dont deliver.

After type0 they would start working on Versus suddenly Lightning Returns was announced.

This isnt about xbox alone also the fact SE is full of nonsense.

Yes I bought ps3 cause I used to be a major FF fan and at the time an FF title on Xbox wasnt heard of. I also bought it to play MW2.

  36. Beta

The architecture between the 2 new consoles is no longer vastly different, and both are using Blu-Ray so the days of bad ports should hopefully be over :)

But yeah, if you take this announcement as bad news you should feel silly. ;)

*As in expanding a games potential audience is not a bad thing as long as both versions perform equally well tech wise.

  37. Djoenz

Shit im bitching here as a fanboy a Sony fanboy while I wont buy either one of the next gen consoles.

I think I’ll stick to current gen. All these things are making me pissed off. Shit news IMO SHIT NEWS.

  38. Ireland Michael

@35 Versus is officially “cancelled”. Move on.

It shouldn’t matter if they promised exclusivity anyway. It doesn’t affect *your* enjoyment of the game, so *why* the hell are the not allowed to expand the game to a bigger audience?

    #38 1 year ago
  39. Lengendaryboss

    @Dj
What your saying doesn’t make sense, how is releasing on more platforms a bad thing or “Shit”?
I get why people want it exclusive but to quote Michael’s words “Third party developers cannot afford to stick to one platform anymore, especially not triple A stuff like this. They’re essentially cutting off half the market by doing so.”

  40. Clupula

@29 – Wrong. All of those, except for III were re-released on PS1.

In fact, during the Nintendo days, only I, IV, and VI were released in the West. It wasn’t until the PS1 days that the others saw release here.

Doesnt matter if they promised exclusivity? You know for next gen it probably doesnt matter (I hope). However I have always wondered why some multiplatform games looked better on xbox and some on ps3 and vice versa.

SE man makes me pissed off. Whatever they could use the money anyway. Tomb Raider didnt do well enough in their eyes.

    #42 1 year ago
  43. CyberMarco

Well, still the game gonna kick ass.

The thing that bothers me the most is why do they bother making the game multiplatform and don’t even consider a PC release if the scope of this is to broaden the audience and maximize profits? Fucking bullshit.

    Nevertheless, it’s Kingdom f*cking Hearts 3!!!

@5 Not completely true. They can easily just look up their cutscenes on youtube like I did for the 3ds game.

  47. hitnrun

No announcement of exclusivity means no exclusivity.

And even then, if Sony or MS doesn’t own the studio, it’s probably a paid-for timed exclusive.

  48. John117

Now SE just needs to make a remake of KH 1 and 2 for X1 and I might buy this :P Jeez, all these games coming for Xbox One, will I ever have time for them all…

    #48 1 year ago
  49. vOL

I get it with the “wider audience”, “more sales good for series”, etc, but the main point I want to convey is that I’m afraid when PS exclusives goes to Xboxs especially RPGs. With the developers thinks that in order to reach the wider audience (more apparent to western audience in this case) and catering them, they must change a bit or incorporated some elements that common and works for the intended audience. Such as putting more action, shooter elements or culture into the Japanese game. These somewhat diminishes the feeling of originality of the game IMHO. As previously shown by Square Enix’s Nier Gestalt and Nier Replicant.

So I will go outside my norm and wait for the reviews and videos before buying it. Normally I don’t read reviews-like to taste the new first hand experience on my games ;)

@8 He’s right though. Even for those who have played the games the storyline is all over the place and barely makes sense.
