Battlefield 4 alpha images show five-man squads and more – rumour

Sunday, 9th June 2013 22:46 GMT By Brenna Hillier

A huge gallery of images allegedly taken from an alpha for Battlefield 4 give some insight into the new DICE shooter’s features.

The 58 images were posted in a gallery on Imgur, apparently by a user called Mystogan, an are marked as “alpha trial”.

The images’ validity has been called into question, although interface details are quite convincing, and it’s worth remembering that alpha tests often have much lower graphics quality than finished releases; there are some pretty obvious missing textures here, for example.

Flicking through the screens reveals a wealth of little details for Battlefield fans. Polygon noted that the squad selection screen has four slots for other players, and that each character has two gadget slots in addition to specialisation and camouflage slots.

Battlefield 4 is headed to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, where it will launch in late October, and to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which versions remain undated. We’re expecting to see a lot more of the shooter during E3, at EA’s conference and probably at Microsoft’s or Sony’s, too.

is it from 360 or Xbox One? because it would suck if the next gen consoles still have only 24 people in battlefield

Omg, so they are using all the same assests from BF3? Why isn’t this called Battlefield “We are lazy shits to be creative”?

@4 Who didn’t see that coming from miles away? :P

I’m pretty disappointed by how little ambition EA truly has when it comes to making Battlefield stand out.

Still no kit presets surprises me.
Crosshair disable option in singleplayer should be a must too.
24 players per server… note to myself: buy next gen.

@8 When they started showing off Bf 3 it was “It’s only alpha” => “It’s only beta” => “It’s only initial release, wait for patch” => “Wait for this and that DLC with these and those fixes” etc.

So I don’t feel a lot sympathy towards DICE if Bf 4 MP reveal isn’t something new when compared to Bf 3.

Already said, but to all of you freaking out “This looks like shit! They re-used assets!”

This is a totally incomplete and unfinished version of a game that is at least 4-5 months from being on the market. Placeholder objects, incomplete geometry, unfinished textures, etc. This is precisely why we only get official game media in carefully constructed PR events. The game is -not done-

Alphas are designed to see if a game’s basic underlying code is stable enough to have a vaguely playable game without having the whole thing explode in your face. And hey, sometimes it does explode.

In other words… don’t freak out.

@11 Cute if you believe that. Even with Bf 3 we got fed a lot miss information by developer.
