Shadow of Mordor trademarks, domains suggest new Lord of the Rings game inbound

A number of pieces of disaparate evidence suggest Warner Bros. may have a new Lord of the Rings game on the boil.

As spotted and pieced together by the indomitable Superannuation on Kotaku, Lord of the Rings Online developer Turbine recently took possession of a handful of domain names releated to the phrase Shadow of Mordor and Middle-Earth.

Additionally, the company which owns a number of Tolkien media rights filed a gaming trademark for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Although a new expansion for Lord of the Rings Online is the obvious conclusion, the sleuth argues that the recent announce of the Helm's Deep content, and the lack of the usual LotRO acronym in the new domains, suggests there is a new title on the way, possibly via Warner Bros. deal with a Korean MMO developer.

Just as an aside, there was a Spectrum title called The Shadows of Mordor.
