Razer announces ultra-thin 14″ Blade gaming laptop

Thursday, 30th May 2013 23:11 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Razer has proudly announced a new Blade which it is describing as “the world’s thinnest gaming laptop”, and is offering it on the cheap to indie developers.

The new 14″ Blade model is just 0.66″ wide and thanks to its diminutive size is said to pack in more grunt per square inch than any other laptop.

Priced at $1,800, the Blade boasts a gen four Intel Core, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 756M GPU, 8GB of DDR3L, and a 128GB SSD as standard, with 256GB and 512GB options available at extra cost.

The LED-backlit HD display has a native resolution of 1600 x 900. The keyboard is also backlit, and has anti-ghosting and programmable keys. There’s also a multi-touch track pad if that’s your thing.

“Thinner than a dime and more powerful than other traditional desktop replacements today, we’ve created an entirely new category of thin and powerful laptops that is generations ahead of other PCs,” Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan said.

The new 14″ Blade will be available for pre-order from June 3.

Additionally, Razer is producing a “Pro” version which is 17″, more powerful, and priced at $2,300, but in a fit of generoisity the company is offering it to an indie developer with a successful Kickstarter for just $1,000.

Learn more about both the new lappies over on Razer’s site.
