The Evil Within developer Tango Gameworks has released a new batch of pre-E3 images for its survival horror shooter. See how Shinji Mikami’s latest stacks up inside.

Built using id Software’s id Tech 5 engine, The Evil Within is Mikami’s answer to what he believes to be a weak horror genre. It stars detective Sebastian Castellanos as he investigates a mass murder, only to be knocked out. He awakens in a brutal world full of monsters and abominations.

The shots are below. Let us know what you think.

Bethesda is publishing the game in 2014 for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and next-gen formats.

Damn it. I thought you’d be playing the guy with the glasses:

Would’ve helped distinguish itself from the typical videogame hero.

These shots don’t look like next-gen which is probably how most of these cross gen titles will look like. On the other hand, the game itself looks awesome.

@1 Good point. It would have been really awesome for someone with thick glasses like myself.

Clothing does seem very similar though. Maybe he’ll wear the glasses at some points in the game?

Maybe after ”accident ” he doesn’t need to wear glasses a la Lost syndrome :D

@2 I agree, i was thinking the same thing they do look current gen graphically speaking but you are most likely right about it being do to cross platform/gen, the game looks fun overall. I personally can’t wait, in about 2-3 years time once devs really start to get a handle on developing on the new systems, Every game is going to look at least as detailed as the old man face from the PS4 conference.
