Saint’s Row 4: Commander in Chief Edition Announced, pre-order bonuses inside

Tuesday, 28th May 2013 11:03 GMT By Dave Cook

Saint’s Row 4 developer Volition has revealed a special Commander in Chief Edition that includes a range of crazy DLC items, including a new outfit and weapons galore.

Publisher Deep Silver confirmed to VG247 that the special edition will include a ‘Screaming Eagle’ jet that fires rockets out of its talons, while sending out a ‘Sonic Scream’ wave that stuns enemies.

It also comes with a red white and blue ‘Uncle Sam’ uniform, as well as the “’Merica Gun” pack, which is laden with mini-guns, flame-throwers, machine guns and rocket launchers.

Here’s a shot of the goodies:

Saint’s Row 4 will launch on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC from August 20 across North America and August 23 across Europe.

Wasn’t this already confirmed last month, Dave?

edit: Anyway, it seems they changed the Screaming Eagle plane skin, though.

@2 Deep Silvers DLC issues are because of THQ. Same thing happened with Metro Last Light people blamed Deep Sliver for not adding Ranger Mode when it was THQ that had the deal already done before they got the game

Well, I’m definitely going to pick it up. It’s a bunch of developers making the silly game that they always wanted to, and it’s always felt like such an odd beast because of that. I guess the only reason that Saints Row III and IV could exist are thanks to publishers like THQ and Deep Silver.

I don’t mind the DLC, really. Granted, I don’t like it, but I don’t mind it. If it helps games like this exist, then I’m happier with it. It’s better than “Hey, this is a HISTORICALLY ACCURATE game without any super powers or stuff, it’s not going to challenge your tiny field of interest or push you out of your picometre wide comfort zone! We’ll only do that in DLC!”

I’m just so fucking tired of how publishers are trying to pander to the mainstream by being amazingly boring at the moment. It’s like people don’t have an ounce of fun or imagination any more. This is why the only mainstream games I’ve really any interest in at the moment is this and Remember Me.

    —Edit

Remember how Mass Effect 3 did that with symbolic endings that you couldn’t take literally, and how much it broke people because mainstream people don’t understand symbolism? (And yes, I’m talking about the EC here, too, because the reaction to the EC was just as bad.)

    Fucking mainstream.

I’m just glad that AAA games like this can still exist.

@4: Oh stop crying. You never wanted to buy the game anyway.

If you actually wanted to do that, you’d already have the Ranger Mode and the new Weapons, since you can get those with the FIRST EDITION that costs THE SAME AMOUNT of money as the NORMAL EDITION.

And the hard mode is also still in the normal version, so shut up, you ignorant twat.

You’ve spammed threats about Metro (this isn’t even about Metro) long enough with your uneducated misinformation.
